Sports bettors across the globe are losing their marbles.

The current pandemic has put an end to almost every sporting event worldwide, leaving many people with little choice but to explore different ways to take advantage of the bookies.

But fear not. Amidst all the chaos, Marbula One is here to save the day.

It’s highly unlikely that you’ve ever watched marble racing, let alone bet on it. But with March Madness canceled and the English Premier League on hold, why not give it a go?

In this post, I will assess the odds and look at the favorites to win the 2020 Marbula One Team Championship. After analyzing the frontrunners’ chances, I’ll then share my betting pick.

Without further ado, let’s get stuck into the world of marble racing.

Let’s start by checking BetOnline’s odds.

With just two races remaining this season, Savage Speeders are sitting at the top of the standings with 70 points. Hazers are 2nd with 65 points, while Team Galactic is 3rd with 60 points.

Snowballs and O’rangers are both locked on 50 points behind the frontrunners, so the race to claim the inaugural Marbula One Team Championship is finely poised.

Marble racing is currently experiencing a colossal upsurge in interest. The coronavirus outbreak has put the sporting world on hold, so sports fans have been forced to find new ways to get their fix.

After setting up the Marble League and Marble Rally, Jelle’s Marble Runs recently created Marbula One. The inaugural season kicked off in February, and it has unexpectedly become a global phenomenon.

So, how does it work?

Well, this new format of marble racing is inspired by Formula One. There are 16 different teams, and each team has two marbles. The Marbula One season is comprised of eight races, and every race is held at a different racetrack.

The races are run over multiple laps on a downhill course. The colored glass balls are released at the start line and are returned to the top of the track by a conveyor belt at the end of each lap.

The marble that crosses the finish line first wins the race, while there is also a bonus point that is given to the marble that runs the quickest lap.

Marbula One’s point system is also identical to that of Formula One. The winning marble is awarded 25 points, 2nd receives 18, and 3rd is given 15. Each marble that finishes in the top ten comes away with at least one point.

Ultimately, the team that finishes at the top of the standings after eight races wins the Marbula One Team Championship.

Every race is streamed live on the Jelle’s Marble Runs YouTube channel, and there is even a commentator to keep you up to date with all the action.

Assessing the Marbula One Team Championship Favorites

Let’s take a closer look at the favorites and assess how they’ve fared so far this season.

Savage Speeders have emerged as the bookmakers’ favorite win the Team Championship after establishing a five-point lead at the top of the standings.

The team is yet to win a race this season, but their marbles have been very consistent throughout the campaign. Rapidly claimed 2nd place in race two and race four, while the team’s other marble Speedy finished 3rd in race six.

Savage Speeders are one of two teams to have registered three podium finishes this season and are the only team with both their marbles in the top five of the individual marble standings.

Hazers

Hazers got off to a flier at the start of the season, securing three consecutive podium finishes. But after accumulating 48 points during the opening three weeks, Hazers have only managed to pick up 17 points since then.

Hazy and Smoggy currently sit 6th and 7th respectively in the individual standings, but neither marble has made its mark on any recent races.

Smoggy’s 4th-place finish in race four has kept the team in contention. But if Hazers are to win the Championship, they’ll need to finish the campaign as they started it.

Team Galactic finished 1st in race one and race four, but they’ve had very little to shout about apart from that.

It’s largely been a one-marble show for Team Galactic, with Starry collecting the majority of the team’s points. Pulsar has only taken points from race four, while firing blanks in the other five races so far.

Team Galactic is only ten points behind Savage Speeders, but they’ll need to find some consistency in the coming weeks in order to finish at the top of the standings.

Snowballs

No marble has claimed more points than Snowy this season. Following a 3rd-place finish in race one, Snowy won race six to move Snowball to within 20 points of the top spot.

However, Snowflake has contributed just eight points to the team’s tally so far. Snowball will need both their marbles to chip in with points in the remaining races.

Orangin secured the O’rangers’ only podium finish so far with victory in race five, but Clementin has let the team down this season.

Sure, O’rangers have fired just one blank in six races. But their marbles haven’t troubled the frontrunners often enough to impact the leaderboard.

Who Will Win the 2020 Marbula One Team Championship?

It’s safe to say that the first-ever Marbula One season has been pretty unpredictable. Five different teams have won the first six races, while Team Galactic is the only team that has two wins to their name.

Having said that, 50 of Team Galactic’s 60 points have come from just two races. Starry and Pulsar have each won a race, but both marbles have made very little impact elsewhere.

Snowballs and O’rangers have also endured indifferent seasons. Both teams have shone in places, but neither has been able to establish a rhythm.

One Championship Betting Odds

Savage Speeders and Hazers have undoubtedly been the most consistent teams, and I’m backing Savage Speeders to win the Championship.

Football Betting Odds Today

While most teams rely solely on one marble, Rapidly and Speedy have both brought in a steady flow of points across the first six races.

Given that Savage Speeders are five points clear of Hazers with two races remaining, odds of +275 look very attractive.

Final Words

The Jelle’s Marble Runs YouTube channel has gained over 100,000 subscribers in a little over two weeks. With so many of us forced to stay indoors, Marbula One appears to be keeping a lot of people occupied at the moment.

Let’s face it, marble racing’s popularity will inevitably decline when the major sporting tournaments are up and running again. But for now, it’s providing everyone with some much-needed entertainment.

The World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship was pushed north of the border this year due to COVID-19. The event will be played at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, as the WGC-Workday Championship. Below, we look at the 2021 Workday Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

The 72-man field includes each of the top-15 golfers in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings. Patrick Reed (No. 15) looks to defend his WGC title in Mexico last year. Max Homa (No. 68) comes off a victory at last week’s Genesis Invitational.

Bryson DeChambeau (+1600)

DeChambeau missed the cut last week at 2-over par. It was his first MC since The Northern Trust at the beginning of last season’s FedEx Cup Playoffs. He slipped to 11th in the Golfweek rankings but has the eighth-best odds to win this week.

He won the 2015 NCAA Championship hosted here and has an experience edge over most of the field with this being the first PGA Tour event played at The Concession. DeChambeau also ranks second on Tour for the 2020-21 season with 2.32 Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green per round.

The reigning US Open champ was the runner-up at last year’s WGC in Mexico and later tied for 30th at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. His all-or-nothing style is well-suited to the no-cut format of WGC events.

Will Zalatoris (+5000)

Zalatoris continues to fly up the Golfweek rankings and is No. 9 following his T-15 finish at the Genesis Invitational. He has finished outside the top 17 in just one of four events to open his 2021 schedule.

The 24-year-old one-time Korn Ferry Tour winner has never played in a WGC event, but he tied for sixth at last year’s US Open against all of the same top competition. His odds are inflated from other events this season, but he has already proven his worth against similarly strong fields.
